This is an exciting graduate opportunity to join a multidisciplinary department participating in design lead activity in product, system and component design. You will support the team in designing and developing new products from conception to manufacture as well as identifying and evaluating new materials, methods, suppliers and processes with a key focus in improving quality, functionality, performance, and reliability through an innovative approach.
Your duties will also include:
Designing of sheet metal and moulded plastic and components
Revising or modifying existing products or components to improve performance or reliability
Reducing manufacturing cost through continual improvement
Producing technical drawing packs for external submission
Proposing conceptual product designs
Creating technical product documentation e.g. operation guides and manuals
Compiling monthly reports to show project spend vs budget
Creating and processing Purchase Orders for engineering material
You will possess an Engineering or Product Design based degree, with any work based experience being highly advantageous. You will have the ability to work under minimal supervision whilst offering solutions to technical problems derived individually or as part of a team. The successful candidate will have an understanding of design for manufacture principles and be proficient in using Microsoft Office and using 2D and 3D CAD packages.
It's desirable if you also have:
Hands-on technical experience of product or prototype assembly
An understanding of designing metal and plastic components such as sheet metal and injection moulded parts
Experience of Pneumatic or electrical systems and components, project planning and/or Data analysis techniques (FEA)
