Locum Psychiatry/Mental Health – Scotland Head Medical are excited to be recruiting for three different Locum positions based in Scotland. Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry based in Stirling. Consultant working with out-patients in the Eating Disorder Clinic based in Falkirk. Consultant or Speciality Doctor working with in-patient and out-patients with the Mental Health Team based in Falkirk. Ideally the successful Doctor will be able to start asap for a period between 3 – 6 months. Start and end dates can be discussed to suit the successful Doctor. Full time is desirable however, part time can be discussed. The working pattern would be full time 10 sessions and rate of pay will be hourly dependent on experience. To be successful for the Locum positions you must hold registration with the GMC and a current license to practise. If applying for the Consultant job you must hold specialist registration.             Consultant Urologist - Scotland An exciting opportunity is available for a Consultant Urologist to join an existing team working in a fantastic district general hospital in Scotland. This is an ideal place for people who enjoy a quieter lifestyle and easy access to brilliant outdoor pursuits such as hill-walking and mountain biking. With great schools and exceptionally low crime rates this is a wonderful place to raise a family too. The Urology Department provide a core elective and emergency service to the region, with out-patient and cystoscopy services also provided at a local community hospital. There are established clinics in andrology and facilities are available for flow studies and transrectal ultrasound and prostate biopsy.  There is some flexibility with the Consultant job plan and we would be open to discussion on this, the intention is to offer the job on an 11 PA contract, with the current on call commitment at 1 in 2 from 8am Monday to 5pm Friday, which attracts an 8% availability supplement. There will be a requirement to take part in supervision and training of medical students, junior doctors and other staff. You will be rewarded with an excellent NHS salary and benefits package, plus relocation assistance, and accommodation (single) can be provided for the first 12 weeks.             Consultant ENT Surgeon - Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland An excellent opportunity is now available for an experienced Consultant in ENT Surgery to join a district general hospital located in the south west of Scotland. This is a full time post working with a very strong multi-disciplinary team, you will be working alongside the current Consultant ENT Surgeon and supported by a Specialty Doctor and trainees.  You will contribute to the provision of out-patient clinics (general adult and paediatric services) at the main hospital and local community hospital, together with operating sessions at DGRI. Dumfries & Galloway is a beautiful rural location, the cost of living is very affordable and there are excellent schools available for those relocating with children. Head Medical are recruiting for a Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology to work at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, serving a scattered population of approximately 148,000 in South West Scotland. The position is expected to offer the Consultant the opportunity to work closely with excellent GPs and play a major role in the delivery of a full range of diabetes care in the region. It is hoped this additional resource will allow the delivery of in-patient diabetes services to be enhanced. The successful candidate will be joining a team which comprises of three Consultants, a Speciality Doctor, a rotating middle grader, 2.5 (wte) diabetes specialist nurses, 3.5 community diabetes specialist nurses and 4 specialist dieticians to assist in further developing an established and progressive multidisciplinary service. You will be expected to participate in acute medical receiving. The region has a Managed Clinical Network for Diabetes and medical students rotate regularly from Glasgow and Edinburgh through the unit. The medical unit includes an 18 bedded critical care unit and a 40 bed Medical Admission Unit. A full range of diabetes services is provided including; DAFNE and DESMOND education programmes, an insulin pump service, a multidisciplinary foot clinic, a multidisciplinary ANC clinic, a combined renal diabetes clinic and transitional diabetes service as well as Weekly Endocrine clinics being held and supported by nurse-lead endocrine testing. To be considered for this post you must hold registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist registration (or within 12 months of achieving this).             Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - part time substantive Due to an expansion of the service there is a position now available for a Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to be based in Bute and the Cowal peninsula in the west of Scotland. You will be developing the service in this area and a special interest in eating disorders is highly desirable. Previous Consultant experience is required and it is essential that you are on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for this within 6 months. This is a part time post, working 20 hours per week (5 PAs) and the salary will be offered on a pro rate basis, plus NHS benefits. The post is part of a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team which aims to work collaboratively and flexibly to achieve a very high standard of care. The team philosophy is to provide for the assessment and treatment of young people who have moderate to severe mental health difficulties using evidence-based practice in the context of the young people’s personal development, with the aim of preventing chronic difficulties whenever possible.             Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - Part Time - Scotland   A Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is now required for a part time post located in the West of Scotland. The service is being expanded to include local provision in Bute & Cowal and we are recruiting for a Consultant to contribute to these developing services which will form two new branches of the existing CAMHS team. The services will replicate the multi-disciplinary team model in place in the region and it will include Psychological and Specialist Medical support alongside Primary Mental Health staff and Clinicians at Band 6 & 7. A specialist interest in children and young people with eating disorders is highly desirable.   This requirement is 0.5 WTE and the specific days can be negotiated.   You will hold full registration with a license to practise with the General Medical Council in the UK, and on (or eligible for) Specialist Registration in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. The CAMHS service within Argyll and Bute serves an area with a population of around 87,000. The service is provided for children and their families from early life up to school leaving age and operates with a multidisciplinary, multi-agency ethos.               Consultant Paediatrician – Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland An excellent opportunity is available for a Consultant in Community Paediatrics to join NHS Dumfries & Galloway and work from their fantastic district general hospital located in the south of Scotland. You will work in general community paediatrics, involving secondary level assessment and ongoing care of children with a range of developmental disorders and disabilities: including those children in need and at risk. You will be flexible to work in all aspects of Community Paediatrics including Neurodevelopment, Neurodisability, Social communication disorders, managing children with exceptional needs, special school clinics, safe guarding and Looked after children etc.  There is new Neurodevelopment set up starting soon. Neurodevelopmental assessment and diagnostic service team dedicated to providing a comprehensive assessment and diagnostic service to children up to the age of 18 with possible difficulties which includes Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum, Intellectual Disability and Tic Disorders. The post holder is expected to contribute and working along with a dedicated CAMHS Consultant, dedicated Speech and Language Therapy and a full time Clinical Psychologist. Child Protection duties are carried by all the consultants in the Department and you are expected to contribute to this duty which will be discussed at the time of job planning. You will have experience working at Consultant level, preferably in the UK or Ireland, however international candidates will also be considered. GMC Specialist Registration, or eligibility within 6 months, is essential for this post. You will be located in a truly beautiful rural location.             Consultant General Surgeon – Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland An opportunity is now available for a Consultant General Surgeon to join the General Surgery Department at the new Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, located in the south of Scotland. Head Medical are delighted to continue to work with this healthboard and are keen to discuss this fantastic new hospital with potential applicants. The Department of Surgery provide a comprehensive elective and emergency general surgical service, with day case/endoscopy/out-patient services also provided at the Galloway Community Hospital in Stranraer. The combined Gastro-intestinal Services are largely provided by surgeons with an Upper GI interest and colorectal interest, and they deal with 130 new cases of colorectal cancers and 40-50 oesophagogastric cancers per annum. Elective and emergency vascular surgery is undertaken here as part of the Solway Vascular Service, which is a network for North Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway. As a Consultant in this department you must have strong general surgery skills and most special interests can be considered, with a preference for GI, Paediatric and Endocrinology. Joining a team of 12 Consultants, you will contribute to the ongoing development of general and laparoscopic surgery as well as participate in the 1:8 emergency on-call rota. Experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery is highly desirable.  Experience in general surgery will be required to enable to Consultant to function competently within the on-call rota. Departmental educational meetings, mortality and morbidity meetings, and journal club are held monthly and the department is supported by and active and enthusiastic Research and Development team. Currently 33 research projects (out of 147) are surgical and adult cancer related which includes local, national and international projects. This is a great opportunity to join a very supportive and inclusive department, who will accommodate a range of special interests.             Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry – Scotland   Two opportunities are now available for suitable qualified Consultants in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to join the Dumfries & Galloway CAMHS team. The two posts will work in the multidisciplinary team dedicated to children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions. Although these posts would be best suited to candidates wishing to work fulltime, there is provision for part-time working – please let me know if you would like to discuss this. You will be principally based in The Willows in Dumfries and join the existing 3.5 WTE consultant in serving the population of Dumfries and Galloway which is 148,190 with approximately 27,000 under 18 year olds. The posts will be managed by CAMHS within the Women, Children and Sexual Health Directorate. The directorate is accountable to the Children's Service Executive Group.   Your duty will be to provide clinical leadership and psychiatric input to multi-disciplinary teams of specialist healthcare professionals within D&G CAMHS. This will be achieved by working closely with colleagues across disciplines and with the service nurse manager, in addition to developing linkages with other key services. Consultant Psychiatrists, the Nurse Manager and Team Leads are responsible for the Clinical Governance of the services to ensure safety, quality, and person-centred care.   CAMHS in Dumfries and Galloway is undertaking a programme of change in line with the Scottish Governments ambitions for improved mental health and wellbeing for all young people in Scotland. The improvement plans set out a series of projects to improve access with a shift to early intervention. The development of a new assessment and diagnostic service for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions is a major service redesign to improve access to assessment and diagnosis and develop partnership working with our local communities. The key focus is on achieving good clinical outcomes and developing services in partnership with children and families with lived experience of CAMHS.   You will be expected to contribute significantly to the continuing improvement of CAMHS in Dumfries and Galloway. New developments are supported by our relationship with the West of Scotland CAMHS Regional Network and the Mental Health Access Improvement Support Team, Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
