Working as a Consultant Cardiologist - This Cardiology service is centred around a purpose-built department which includes two General Electric Vivid 9 and one vivid 6 units. The images are downloaded to a database, which is easily accessed from other areas in the hospital via the intranet. There are two exercise testing rooms containing Marquette ETT system and a tilt table.
The department performs over 2600 echocardiograms, 2000 Exercise Tests and 550 Holter monitoring tests per year
Cardiologists have monitored beds in the mixed-bedded coronary care/medical high-dependency unit with provision for dynamic ST-segment monitoring in addition to a 36 additional Cardiology beds in dedicated wards. Facilities are available on the unit for temporary pacing.
The Cardiologists supervise the Coronary Care Unit on a daily basis Monday to Friday. HDU patients are looked after by Physician colleagues.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish new patient clinics. The clinics will be supported by provision of full diagnostics including echocardiography and exercise testing at the time of the clinics.

Working as a Consultant in Gastroenterology - The department has its inpatient base on Ward 10. Acute gastroenterology patients admitted via AMRU are as far as possible transferred to Ward 10 for ongoing specialist care. Strong links are maintained with the other medical and surgical specialties at UHM well as with the Liver Unit, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and GI services at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Outpatient clinics take place within the main Outpatient Department. The service is supported by 2 IBD nurse specialists and 1 liver nurse specialist who provide Biological Therapy for IBD, venesection and IV iron infusions in a dedicated Programmed Investigation Unit (PIU). There is significant scope to further develop nurse led pathways and this is being actively pursued.
Upper and lower GI endoscopy takes place within a dedicated Endoscopy Unit which has the full range of therapeutic facilities, including a recent upgrade to Olympus endoscopy equipment (290 series).
The consultant-provided endoscopy lists are supported by GI nurse-endoscopist sessions.Electronic reporting software (Unisoft) is used. The gastroenterologists plus a general surgeon provide emergency endoscopy on a dedicated morning slot five days per week.
Successful applicants will fully participate in delivering both the inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services. It is anticipated that the successful candidates will develop a specialty interest to complement the existing services.
An interest in liver disease or clinical nutrition would be welcome, but equally, the post would be entirely suitable for an appointee with a strong interest in luminal gastroenterology.

It is a fabulous opportunity to undertake block bookings for our client, a busy NHS teaching hospital in Glasgow. I can consider full time and part time hours. Shifts are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:30.
As a Contract Paediatric Anaesthetics RN/ODP, you will be able to provide care and support to both children and/or neonates in the perioperative environment. You will be expected to work independently with limited direct supervision and to provide specialist clinical advice.
Requirements:
Qualified RN or ODP with a minimum of two years' post-graduate UK experience.
Paediatric Life Support
Eligible to work in the UK.
Post registration experience in Anaesthetics.
Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council/HCPC
Knowledge and experience of administering anaesthetics in the paediatric patient population
Good understanding of clinical guidelines and best practice
