Job Description

Be-IT Resourcing are currently working with a large software and analytics company based in Glasgow. We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring high quality standards and integrity of our client’s software suite. The QA Engineer has a solid working knowledge of commonly used QA concepts, best practices, and procedures within the Quality Assurance field.

You will be tasked with the following:


Prepare and maintain QA artefacts including, but not limited to test plans, test cases, scripts, and metrics/reports;
Designs tests and provides requirements for automated tests;
Designs automation workflows and scripts for maximum product coverage;
Contribute to usability, integration, documentation or functional testing;
Help ensure the quality and completeness of team deliverables;
Support and/or install software applications /operating systems, as well as manage multiple testing environments;
Execute verification and validation procedures based on the test plan and test cases;
Record and verify defects using defect tracking tool with the ability to prioritize the severity


Key Tasks


Test requirements and providing feedback on gaps, inaccuracies, inconsistencies, ambiguities, suggested improvements
Suggestions and ideas to improve testability contributed to team
Contribute acceptance tests and regression tests appropriately
Contribute appropriate automation of Integration and end to end scenarios
Manage, configure and maintain test environments
Execute new test cases
Execute appropriate regression tests
Execute appropriate non-functional tests
Agree acceptance tests with engineers and product owner before feature development
Identify test conditions from any available test basis, and write test cases to cover test conditions
Update test case management system to add new test cases, and update existing test cases as required


Key Experience & Qualifications Required


Understanding of software development and software development terminology is highly desirable.
Experience and knowledge of object-oriented programming principles
Experience and knowledge of programming languages such as Java and SQL
Experience with writing automation requirements for test coverage;
Experience with databases, data warehousing, client/server applications, web-based enterprise applications, java applications, and end-user documentation;
Experience with applications using SQL Server or Oracle is required; must be able to query databases;
Ability to provide examples of collaborative, high performance team working
Ability to work with stakeholders to understand requirements
Ability to work with customers and deliver to timescales
Experience with a test case management system, defect reporting system, version control system
Experience with administering and installing software on Unix environments
Experience with database management systems
Experience identifying test conditions from a test basis and generating and documenting test cases
Previous experience within a software testing role using tools such as Selenium Web Driver or Bash Script or Ant Script
